3 Setting up the Serial Terminal Program - PuTTY
(Ask a Question)The user application receives system service commands on the serial terminal through the UART interface. This chapter describes how to set up the serial terminal program.
To setup PuTTY, perform the following steps:
- Connect the USB cable from the host PC to the J5 (USB) port on the Evaluation board.
- Connect the power supply cable to the J9 connector on the Evaluation board.
- Power on the board using the SW3 slide switch for Evaluation board.
- From the host PC, click
Start and open Device Manager to note
the second highest COM Port number and use that in the PuTTY configuration. In this
example, COM Port 5 (COM5) is selected, see the following figure.
COM Port-numbers may vary.

- Select Serial as
the Connection type, see the following figure.

- Set the Speed (baud) to 115200, see the following figure.
- Set the Flow
control to None, see the following figure and
click Open.
