1.3 Hardware Prerequisites

To successfully integrate a custom MIPI display, the following items are required:

  • SAMA7D65-Curiosity board (EV63J76A)
  • A custom MIPI display, such as the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2, featuring a 15-pin DSI connector
  • A MIPI DSI adapter board, required if the display’s connector does not match the 34-pin MIPI connector on the Curiosity board.
    • For the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2, an adapter is needed for a 15-pin DSI to 34-pin MIPI conversion.
Note: Contact your local Microchip sales representative for details on obtaining the appropriate adapter.
  • Power supply
    • Ensure the board and display are powered adequately. Some displays draw power from the board, while others require a separate supply.
  • An SD card to store and boot the SAMA7D65-Curiosity board firmware
  • Debugging tools
    • A JTAG debugger such as the MPLAB PICkit 5 or the SAM-ICE debugger
    • A USB-to-serial adapter for console communication via J35
