4.5 Voltage Loop

A voltage loop provides a straightforward way of controlling the output voltage. A voltage loop monitors the output voltage for changes and then compensates for those changes by increasing or decreasing the duty going to the plant. Most of the time, the voltage loop alone is not enough because it is slow to respond. Also, voltage loops have no overcurrent protection. A cascade approach is needed with a current loop and a voltage loop.
