4.3.2 Installing a Floating License on a Linux Server

To install a floating license on a server running the Linux operating system, perform the following steps:
  1. Download the licensing daemons from the Microchip Libero page.
    1. Go to the Download Software section.
    2. Select the Daemons tab, and then select the Unix/Linux Daemons file you want to download.
      Tip: For convenience, select this link to download the Linux/Unix Daemon files.
  2. Save the License.dat file on the server.
  3. Select the downloaded daemon <user_home>/FlexLM/.
  4. Perform the following steps to edit the License.dat file:
    1. Update the SERVER line by replacing <put.hostname.here> with the actual hostname, but without the angle brackets.
    2. Modify the port number if necessary (default is 1702).
    3. Update the VENDOR and DAEMON lines with the appropriate paths. For example, see the following paths.
      VENDOR snpslmd /tools/Libero/snpslmd
      DAEMON saltd /tools/Libero/saltd
      DAEMON actlmgrd /tools/Libero/actlmgrd
  5. To start the License Manager, type the following command from the command prompt:
    <user_home>/FlexLM/lmgrd -c <path_to_License.dat>\License.dat
  6. To attach a log file, type the following command in the terminal:
    <user_home>/FlexLM/lmgrd -c <user_home>/FlexLM/License.dat -l <user_home>/FlexLM /
    license.log
