1.3 PROMs

PROMs are Programmable Read-Only Memory devices. Even though the name does not imply programmable logic, PROMs are, in fact, devices that can be used to implement logic functions. The architecture of most PROMs typically consists of a fixed number of AND array terms that feed a programmable OR array. They are mainly used for decoding specific input combinations into output functions, such as memory mapping in microprocessor environments.
