2.2 WILCS02-SD Board Overview
The WILCS02 Wi-Fi® Link Controller SD Board is a Secure Digital (SD) card interface board that supports IEEE® 802.11 b/g/n standard. It is designed to demonstrate the features and functionalities of Microchip’s low-power the Wi-Fi WILCS02PE Module.
The WILCS02-SD board offers:
- The WILCS02PE Module offers Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) connectivity solution and hardware-based security accelerator
- PCB antenna
This board can be connected to any host Microcontroller (MCU) board with Secure Digital Input/Output (SDIO) Multimedia Card plus (MMCplus) via on-board MMCplus card connector using SDIO interface, for controlling the Wi-Fi. WILCS02-SD board has an on-board PTA interface header to control the external Bluetooth chip.
The features of the WILCS02-SD board are as follows:
- The WILCS02PE Module is a Low-power IEEE 802.11 b/g/n RF/Baseband/MAC Link Controller Module
- SD/MMCplus Card Connector for Controlling the WILCS02PE Module using SDIO Interface
- On-Board Universal Serial Bus (USB) to Debug Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) Converter using Microchip MCP2221A
- Manual Reset Button to Reset the WILCS02PE Module
- Current Measurement Header for VDD and VDDIO
- Optional 32.768 kHz Real Time Clock Calendar (RTCC) Oscillator for the WILCS02PE Module
- Power Supply from SD/MMCplus Connector or USB Type-C™ or External Power Supply
- Hardware Based 802.15.2 Compliant Three-Wire PTA Interface to Address Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Co-existence using Shared Antenna
