5.1.7 Parent Loss Detection and Rejoin to Another Parent
This section describes the power profile of Mi-Wi Mesh sleeping end device while it detects a
parent loss and scans for a new parent. The following figure illustrates the profile captured
during a node trying to transmit indirect data request to its parent and not receiving a MAC
ACK for the same. As a result, the sleeping end device retries three times. After failing to
reach the parent for ED_LINK_FAILURE_ATTEMPTS, the sleeping end device
detects a parent loss and transmits the beacon request to scan for any nearby nodes for
joining to the network. Post detection of link failure, the profile is identical to as
observed in section Beacon Request and Scan Duration. For more details, refer to Beacon Request and Scan DurationFigure 5-16. SAM R30 XPro

Note: The duration difference in this table is due to the fact
that the end device in the SAM R30 XPro took longer to
wake up from sleep and detect the parent loss to send the data request, as compared
to immediate wake-up, parent loss detect and indirect data request in the SAM R30 Module XPro.
