3.3.1 Programming with the DediProg SF100

The recommended method for programming the SPI NOR Flash chips on the EV51H13A is to use a DediProg SF100 in-system programmer. The programmer connects directly to the 2x4 programming header (J31) using a ribbon cable. The onboard programming header provides access to two SPI chips, with device selection controlled through jumper J32.

In addition, the QSPI channel selection jumpers must be configured appropriately to route the SF100 external programmer to the desired SPI Flash device, as described in the following table:

The DediProg software is then used to program the memory devices.

Before programming the SPI devices, power the evaluation board by connecting a USB Type-C® cable to J24. Next, connect the DediProg programming cable to header J31. The following figure illustrates the connection between the board and the programmer. Ensure that the pin 1 orientation on the programming cable matches the pin 1 indicator on the board connector.

The SF100 programming software requires several configuration selections before programming can begin. The user must select the SF100 programmer, specify the target SPI Flash device to ensure the correct chip select is used, and select the appropriate memory manufacturer and device part number. The software also requires configuration of the programming speed and SPI operating mode, which may be Single, Dual or Quad I/O mode. After these settings have been configured, the desired firmware can be selected. To begin programming, use the batch programming function within the software. Upon successful completion, the software displays an output log similar to the example shown in the following figure. This procedure can then be repeated for the remaining devices.
