4.1 Network Joining Time

Network joining time is the interval required for a device to discover an existing network, connect to a suitable parent node and begin communicating with other nodes in the mesh. In large-scale networks, joining time can increase as the number of devices grows because of network traffic, routing updates and parent node availability. However, the mesh architecture helps maintain reliable joining by allowing devices to connect through multiple potential parents.

Using an optimized network formation strategy, the full 200-node network can form and stabilize within 28 minutes.
- After all nodes are powered on, the network needs a 3-minute synchronization period. During this time, nodes discover each other, find a parent router to connect to, and register themselves into the network.
