5.4 UWB Operation
The UWB functionality is tested using the base station hardware (ATSAMC21-XPRO/ATA5831-XPRO/ATA5291-XPRO or ATA5293-XPRO/LF antenna module or X-10013-002 antenna/ATA8352-XPRO) and the ATAB5702A fob board with ATA8352-XPRO board. The CARS PC application displays the result of the ToF measurement, clock offset and message count details in the UWB Status window each time the fob localization command is executed. Perform the following steps to test the UWB using the CARS PC application running on the host PC:
- If not done so already, follow the procedure detailed in CARS Kit PC Evaluation Utility.
- Navigate to View > UWB Messaging. The UWB status window shows the following
data fields:
Figure 5-23. UWB Status Window - “TOF Measured (cm)” – Displays the ToF measurement between the fob (verifier) and base station (prover)
- “Clock offset” – Displays the clock offset between the fob and base station
- “DM attempt count” – Displays the number of attempts made to get the ToF measurement
- “DM complete count” – Displays the number of successful ToF measurements
- Place the fob anywhere near the base station hardware but still within the UWB operating range.
- Click the FOB localization button to execute the ToF measurement, and observe the “TOF Measured (cm)” field displaying the measured distance in cm, along with the other fields being updated.
- Click the Reset Count button to clear all the fields on the UWB Status window.
