12.1.5.6 Erase Lock Bit Feature

The PIC32CZ CA70/MC70 devices feature an Erase Lock bit based on the GPNVM bit 2. Erase lock will only take effect when the security bit (GPNVM[0]) is also enabled. When enabled, the Erase Lock bit will lock out the ERASE pin and prevent any erase of the Flash memory including the GPNVM bits, see below image Erase lock feature for reference.

This Erase Lock bit can only be enabled through the command “Set General-purpose NVM Bit 2” of the EEFC User Interface.

Disabling the security bit can only be achieved by asserting the ERASE pin at 1, and after a full Flash erase is performed. If the Erase Lock bit is enabled, there will be no way to access the Flash, SRAM, core registers, and internal peripherals through the debugger interface.
