2.1.1 Software Input to the Signal Routing Port Pin

The LATW register acts as a software input to the Signal Routing Port. When the user chooses LATWn bit from the PORTWINx register selections, a software write to the LATWn bit can change the status of the RWn signal routing port pin. This is analogous to a regular I/O port with output buffers enabled (TRISx = 0), where writing to the LATx register changes the output on the corresponding I/O pins. Refer to Firmware-Driven Peripheral Operation for an application use case.

Important: Software writes to LATW register will only take effect on a signal routing port pin when the appropriate PORTWINx register has selected LATWn bit as the input source for that signal routing port pin.
