1.12 Alert or Interrupt Module

The IO0, IO2, IO4 and IO5 pins can be configured as interrupt or alert inputs. When configured as an alert or interrupt input, the pin operates as a digital input with edge-detection capability. Depending on the configuration, the pin can detect:

  • Rising edge
  • Falling edge
  • Both rising and falling edges
All four alert inputs, ALRT[3:0] include internal pull-up resistors that can be enabled or disabled. The IO5 pin is factory-configured as ALRT3 pin.

When an alert condition is detected on any configured ALRT[3:0] pin, the MCP2222 wakes up from Sleep and can trigger a USB remote wake-up event to the USB host, provided that remote wake-up is enabled.
