1.7 UART Module

The MCP2222 UART interface consists of the TX and RX data signals, with optional hardware flow control through the RTS and CTS pins when configured on IO0 and IO1, respectively.

The UART interface supports configurable parameters that can be set at runtime through the SET_LINE_CODING command:

  • Baud Rate
  • STOP Bits
  • Parity
  • Data Width

Supported baud rate range: 2,000 bps to 1 Mbps. Standard baud rates from 2,400 bps to 921,600 bps are listed in Table 1-2.

Note: When the data width is set to five bits, the UART communication with no flow control may not operate properly beyond the baud rate of 921,600 bps.
