14.3.4.3 Data Interpretation

The RSSI value is a 5-bit value in a range of zero to 28, indicating the receiver input power in steps of about 3.1dB.

A RSSI value of zero indicates a receiver RF input power less than or equal to PRF ≤ RSSIBASE_VAL. For a RSSI value in the range of one to 28, the RF input power can be calculated as follows:

PRF[dBm] = RSSIBASE_VAL[dBm] + 3.1[dB] x RSSI

The value RSSIBASE_VAL itself depends on the PHY mode. For typical conditions, it is shown in the table below.

Table 14-27. RSSI_BASE_VAL
PHY Mode RSSIBASE_VAL [dBm]
BPSK with 300kchip/s -100
BPSK with 600kchip/s -99
O-QPSK with 400kchip/s, SIN and RC-0.2 shaping -98
O-QPSK with 400kchip/s, RC-0.2 shaping -98
O-QPSK with 1000kchip/s, SIN shaping -98
O-QPSK with 1000kchip/s, RC-0.8 shaping -97
