3.5 Configuration Protection Setting

USB parameters, I/O settings, and peripheral settings stored in NVM can be protected from modification by selecting the appropriate protection level. After a power cycle or Reset, the settings stored in NVM are made as active settings.

The MCP2222 supports the following configuration protection levels:

  • No Protection – Configuration settings can be modified.
  • Password protected (unlocked) – A password is set, but configuration settings can be modified.
  • Password protected (locked) – Configuration settings cannot be modified until the device is unlocked with the correct password.
  • Permanently locked – Configuration settings cannot be modified, no unlocking is allowed.
