1.5.2 USB Events

The MCP2222 supports signaling for USB-related events, including USB suspend and resume.

USB suspend and resume signals are used for power management of the MCP2222. The device enters Suspend mode when suspend signaling is detected on the USB bus or when there is no USB activity on the bus for 3 ms.

The MCP2222 exits Suspend mode when one of the following events occurs:

  • USB resume signaling is detected or generated
  • A USB Reset signal is detected
  • A device Reset occurs

If IO5 is configured for the USBSPND function, it indicates the USB suspend or resume state.

If IO4 is configured for the USBCFG function, it indicates successful USB enumeration.

This signal allows the application to enter a low-power state when USB communication is suspended and return to an active state when USB communication resumes.
