1.2.5 Powering the MCP2222 Using a 3.3V System Rail (Self-Powered)

The MCP2222 can also be powered from an existing 3.3V system rail. In this configuration, both V_DD and V_USB are connected to the 3.3V rail.

For self-powered applications, the V_BUS pin must be used to detect the presence of the USB bus. V_BUS should be connected to the USB VBUS supply through a 3:2 resistor divider, as shown in Figure 1-4.
