11.1 Powering the PD-IES008x-DCxx and PD-IES206x-DCxx Units

To power the DC unit, perform the following:

  1. Verify that the external DC Power Supply (PS) is within the limits (see Table 17-2).
  2. Verify that the external DC PS is turned off.
  3. Connect the positive PS terminal to the PD-IES008x-DCxx/PD-IES206x-DCxx terminal block connector and tighten the screw.
  4. Connect the negative PS terminal to the PD-IES008x-DCxx/PD-IES206x-DCxx terminal block connector and tighten the screw.
  5. For redundant power, repeat steps 3 and 4 for the second power input.
  6. Turn the power supply on.
Note:
  • The PD-IES008x-DCxx/PD-IES206x-DCxx switch has a reverse polarity power input protection
  • Power redundancy requires two external power supplies.
  • Connect the PS terminals power to input voltage 1, input voltage 2 or both for redundancy.
  • PD-IES008x-DCxx/PD-IES206x-DCxx has two terminals, Positive (+) and Negative (−), for each power input.
  • Use a minimum of 5A current-rated power cables (minimum wire gauge of 16 AWG).
  • Power cables from the external PS to the PD-IES008x-DCxx/PD-IES206x-DCxx should be as short as possible, as the large input current can cause a large voltage drop.
