4.6.25 Starting the License Manager Generates Error on Linux
(Ask a Question)Symptom: When running lmgrd to start the License Manager on Linux systems, the system generates the following error message:
12:39:28 (actlmgrd) Vendor daemon can't talk to lmgrd (License server machine is down or not responding. (-96,7:2 "No such file or directory"))
12:39:28 (actlmgrd) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 37 Exit reason 5
Cause: The host is not recognized due to a problem in the
/etc/hosts
file on the Linux system.
Resolution: Perform the following procedure:
- At the Linux prompt, edit the
/etc/hosts
file and add the following lines:# IP address Hostname Alias
127.0.0.1 localhost <hostname>
Important:<hostname>
is the name of the Linux system. - Restart lmgrd.
