3.5.2.7.2 FSCR – Frequency Synthesizer Control Register

Note: Setting FSCR to 0x00 switches off the power amplifier.
Name: FSCR
Offset: 0x00B
Reset: 0x00

Bit 76543210
 PAONPAOERTXMS[1:0]SFMTXMOD
Access RRRR/WR/WR/WR/WR/W
Reset 00000000

Bit 7 – PAON Power Amplifier Output is On

This bit is a read-only status bit. It indicates whether the power amplifier output is still active or not. If ASK shaping is switched on, this bit can be polled after the end of transmission to check when the shaping has completed and the TX is ready to be shut down.

Bit 6 –  Reserved Bit

This bit is reserved and returns ‘0’ when read.

Bit 5 –  Reserved Bit

This bit is reserved and returns ‘0’ when read.

Bit 4 – PAOER Power Amplifier Output Enable Register

Activates the output of the power amplifier. The biasing of the power amplifier must be enabled in the front end register FEEN2.PAEN before PAOER is set to ‘1’.

Bits 3:2 – TXMS[1:0] TX Modulation Source

Selects the source for the modulation of the transmission signal.

01TMDI input pin 18 – transparent mode input

Bit 1 – SFM Select FSK Modulation

Selects the modulation type used for transmission. The modulating source is selected by setting the FSCR.TXMS[1:0] bits accordingly.
Table 3-40. SFM Description
SFMDescription
0ASK modulation is used. The carrier frequency is selected by the FFREQ1H/M/L bytes.
1FSK modulation is used. The power amplifier is constantly on. The carrier frequency depends on the modulation signal: ‘0’ corresponds to the FFREQ1H/M/L setting; ‘1’ corresponds to the FFREQ2H/M/L setting.

Bit 0 – TXMOD Transmit Modulation

This bit can be used to modulate the carrier with “bit set” and “bit clear” commands. Depending on the FSCR.SFM bit, it performs either ASK or FSK modulation:
SFMTXMODDescription
00ASK: Carrier is off.
01ASK: Carrier is on. Use carrier frequency 1 as defined in (FFREQ1H/M/L).
10FSK: Use carrier frequency 1 as defined in (FFREQ1H/M/L).
11FSK: Use carrier frequency 2 as defined in (FFREQ2H/M/L).
