12.4.1 Data Length Extension Parameter

The data length extension parameter enables or disables the extended packet length option for the data channel Protocol Data Unit (PDU) packets available in Bluetooth version 4.2 devices. The total payload length of Data Channel PDU is 251 bytes. For more details, refer to the Bluetooth Core Specification (4.2), volume 6, part B, section 2. The IS1870/71 only supports up to 104 bytes of the allotted 251 bytes in the payload.

Setting this parameter enables or disables the use of the extended payload in the data channel PDU of the IS1870/71 (104 bytes for this device) (see the following table). If disabled, the IS1870/71 device uses the specified 31-byte payload for the data channel PDU. For more details, refer to the Bluetooth Core Specification (4.0), volume 6, part B, section 2. If the link manager version parameter is set to ‘0’, the value of this bit is ignored and the maximum limit for all data channel PDUs is 31 bytes in the payload. For more details, refer to Link Manager Version Parameter.
