5.32 Serial Flash Discoverable Parameters (SFDP)

The Serial Flash Discoverable Parameters (SFDP) contain information describing the characteristics of the device. This allows device-independent, JEDEC ID-independent, and forward/backward compatible software support for all future Serial Flash device families (see Table 8-1 for address and data values).

To initiate an SFDP operation in SPI mode, the host issues the 8-bit command 5AH, followed by address bits A[23-0] using 24 clock cycles and an additional 8 dummy clock cycles. The device then immediately outputs data on the falling edge of the SCK signal. The CE# signal must remain active-low for the entire duration of the SFDP operation.
