The READ instruction (03H) is supported only in SPI mode and operates at a maximum clock frequency of 108 MHz. This instruction is not available in QPI mode. When executed, the device outputs data on SO/SIO[1], beginning at the specified address, and continues streaming data from successive addresses until the operation is terminated by a low-to-high transition on CE#. The internal Address Pointer automatically increments after each byte is read. After reaching the highest memory address, the Address Pointer wraps around to address 000000H.
To start a read operation, the host issues the 8-bit READ command (03H), followed by three or four address bytes. CE# must remain active-low throughout the entire read operation. Figure 5-6 illustrates the read command sequence.Figure 5-6. Read Sequence (SPI)
