5.39 JEDEC-ID Read

The JEDEC-ID Read (9FH) instruction is used to identify the manufacturer and device information, including the device type and device ID. To perform a JEDEC-ID Read operation in either SPI mode or QPI mode, the host drives CE# low and transmits the JEDEC-ID Read command (9FH). The device then outputs data on the falling edge of the SCK signal. The device returns three bytes of identification data: manufacturer, device type and device ID (refer to Table 5-15).

Data output continues until the operation is terminated by a low-to-high transition on CE#. Refer to Figure 5-35 for the JEDEC-ID Read sequence in SPI mode and Figure 5-36 for the corresponding sequence in QPI mode.
