5.46 Sector Erase_4Byte (SE)

The Sector Erase_4Byte instruction clears all bits within the selected 4-KB sector to 1. Protected memory regions are not affected by this operation. Before initiating a Sector Erase_4Byte operation, the Write Enable (WREN) instruction must be executed.

To perform a Sector Erase_4Byte operation, the host asserts CE# low and transmits the Sector Erase command (21H) in either SPI mode or QPI mode, followed by four address bytes. The host then drives CE# high to initiate the internal erase operation. Address bits [AMS:A12], where AMS represents the Most Significant Address bit, define the sector address (SAX). The remaining lower address bits can be either VIL or VIH. The completion of the internally timed erase operation can be determined by polling the Busy bit in Status Register 1 or by waiting for the specified sector erase time TSE.
