5.45 Sector Erase (SE)

The Sector Erase instruction clears all bits within the selected 4-KB sector to 1. Protected memory regions are not affected by this operation. Before initiating a Sector Erase operation, the Write Enable (WREN) instruction must be executed.

To perform a Sector Erase operation, the host asserts CE# low and transmits the Sector Erase command (20H) in either SPI mode or QPI mode, followed by either a three-byte or four-byte address. The host then drives CE# high to start the internal erase operation. Address bits [A_MS:A₁₂], where A_MS represents the Most Significant Address bit, define the Sector Address (SA_X). The remaining address bits can be either V_IL or V_IH. The completion of the internally timed erase operation can be determined by polling the Busy bit in Status Register 1 or by waiting for the specified sector erase time T_SE.
